IOSH Managing Safely Project, Part 1, a description / sketch of the location(s)

First you need to select an area on which you are going to base your project. It needs to be somewhere that you are familiar with. If your area of responsibility is so complex that it is likely to cause confusion it may be worth considering that no one will be coming to your workplace to audit your work. Say no more!

A sketch is the best way to go about this part of the project. Don't get hung up on exact measurements etc. That's not what this is about. What IOSH are looking for is confirmation that you can assess the risks in your workplace and communicate them effectively.

For the assessor to make a judgement on your success (or otherwise) there are a few things that he/she might need to know about your area of responsibility such as whether it is outside or inside, what you do in there, how do you get in and out and what is the size of your area of responsibility.

Apart from that you will need to include any detail that aids the clarity of the rest of you project. Please consider too that you don't need a degree in geometrical and engineering drawing to complete this part of your IOSH Managing Safely project but if the marker is unable to understand your meaning there would be no points in it for you.
